As your Doula:
· We accompany women in labor, at Marin General Hospital, to ensure a safe and
satisfying birth experience.
· We draw on our knowledge and experience to provide reassurance and
perspective to you, making suggestions for labor progress and helping with
relaxation, positioning and other techniques for comfort.
· We are independent and self-employed. As your Doula we work for you, not a
medical caregiver or hospital.
· We will help you get the information necessary to make informed decisions and
we support you in your choices during your birth.
· We will discuss your concerns with you and suggest options, but you and your
partner will speak on your behalf to the clinical staff. Or, at your request we
can advocate for you.
As your Doula we
do not:
· Perform clinical tasks such as take blood pressure, fetal heart checks,
vaginal exams and others. We are there to provide only physical comfort and
emotional support.
When to call us:
· When you feel you are in labor, even if you are not ready to go to the
hospital, call (415) 462-3214 (our answering service) and you will be put in
contact with the Doula on call. The Doula will then give you her direct phone
and pager numbers and she will phone sit with you as needed, until you make the
decision to go to the hospital.
· The Doula will meet you at the hospital upon your request.
The Doula service fee is $700.00 to be paid as follows:
· $150.00 as a non-refundable retainer fee, due when you register to use our
service.
· $550.00 to be billed by the Doula who attends your birth, due within 1 month
of the birth.
